How does it work?

The first step is scheduling a consultation. This will allow us to vibe and create your Locs based on your preferences, and answer any questions you have. Next would be to purchase your locs. Based on what we discuss, you will know exactly what to purchase. If you are getting your locs installed by me select local pickup when checking out. There is a fee to have locs installed which is due on the day of your loc install appointment. The fee starts at $600 for temporary Locs and goes up depending on how many bundles you’re getting installed. Purchasing your locs serves as a deposit so no deposit is needed when booking an install. If appointment is rescheduled then a deposit will be required to rebook.

What if I want to purchase locs only?

If you are purchasing locs only (without installation), you can purchase what you want and leave the details along with your contact number in the notes section. If you prefer to have a consultation, book the consult first then purchase your locs. Please keep in mind that shipping will be done within 8-10 weeks after purchase of locs without installation. If time permits I may be able to ship them out sooner. I apologize that you have to wait so long, however; the locs are handmade by one person so preparation time is needed.

Can I rush my order or get an early install date?

Normally the availability shown is what I have available. However please reach out to see if anything has changed as cancellations can happen. If time permits, there is a $650 fee to rush delivery. I cannot rush colored locs. Orders will be shipped within 2½ weeks or less. For sooner loc install appointments the fee is $650. Please understand that rush orders takes time away from other responsibilities, which is why it’s applied.

How soon can I get an appointment after the consultation?

Based on availability you can get an install date 2 1/2 - 3 weeks after you purchase your locs. If you wait to purchase your locs then your earliest install date will still be 2 1/2- 3 weeks after the date you purchase your locs not your consultation date. If you would like your hair done sooner a rush fee will be applied.

How will I pay for my appointment?

After you purchase your locs, I will inform you of my availability and schedule the appointment for you. The loc installation fee will be due on the day of your appointment. Cash payment only please.

How long does my hair need to be?

Your hair needs to be at least 3 to 4 inches long for temporary installs. This is the perfect starting length. Shorter lengths may allow the locs to slide out or not last as long. Longer hair is acceptable but will require longer installation time & may require an extra fee if getting Locs shorter than hair length.

Can I get locs over locs?

Yes, you can! A consultation is suggested if you’d like to permanently or temporarily add to your Locs. Locs come in all widths and sizes and I would like to ensure Island Bae Locs match your desired size and style.

What’s the difference between permanent locs and temporary locs?

Permanent locs are locs that you will keep in and not want to remove. Most client get them to extend the length of their hair until it grows out and eventually cut them off when their hair reaches the desired length.

As for temporary locs your hair is braided and your braid is camouflaged within the loc extension. No extra hair is needed due to the construction of the loc extensions. These locs can be removed and is recommended to be worn for 3 months. The longest time you should keep these in is 6 months as they are still removable but a lot more difficult. Human hair tends to tangle and mesh together making it harder to remove. Both can be washed, styled, and colored. If you color temporary locs keep in mind that your hair is inside of the loc and can be damaged if the color is not washed out properly.

Do temporary locs and permanent locs have different prices?

The price for the actual locs are the same unless you choose to add loops to the end of your temporary Locs. Loops require more time to construct on each Loc.

How many locs do I need?

Depends on the fullness you desire, thickness, and density of your hair, as well as your head size. Fine or thin hair clients will not be able to get as many as clients with thick full hair. During the consultation please describe your hair as accurate as possible so I can make the locs closest to the density of your hair.

For Island Bae Locs most clients order 60-75 locs or 5 bundles (55-65 locs for fine hair).

What is your Cancellation & Late Policy?

How do prepare for my appointment?

Although I would love to wash & treat your hair time just does not permit with Island Bae Loc installs. Hair must be freshly washed, thoroughly detangled, and sectioned into 4 sections to ensure a seamless & time appropriate install.
